PARTY TIPS AND RECIPES
The following party tips and recipes have been supplied by the Safe Roads Western Massachusetts Traffic Safety Program:
Prepare plenty of nutritious foods-
dips, cheeses, nuts-so people will not
drink on empty stomachs.
Be honest-when inviting guests who are known to drink to excess. Tell them that drinking and driving is not acceptable at your party. Get their agreement to find alternate modes of transportation.
Have plenty of non-alcoholic drinks available, especially for the designated driver. (You'll see that many guests may actually prefer them!)
If preparing an alcoholic punch, use a non-carbonated base like fruit juice. (Alcohol is absorbed into the bloodstream faster witha carbonated base.)
Have a bartender. With one person
mixing and measuring drinks, there
will be better control over the size
and number served.
If some of your guests have had too much to drink, drive them home...arrange a ride with another guest who is sober...call a taxi...invite them to stay. DON'T LET A PERSON DRIVE DRUNK!
Close your bar 90 minutes before your party is over...and serve a great dessert treat with coffee, tea, or soft drinks. (Remember...only time sobers!)
